Doggy style: 15 extravagant extras for pampered pooches

doggy style

"I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts." ~ John Steinbeck

The economy may have gone to the dogs, but that certainly hasn't stopped some people from keeping their beloved canines living in the lap of luxury. Just check out these "essential" doggy treats:

1. Personalized treats

Personalized photo treats

My Dog's Bakery produces gourmet treats, hand-made with either your dog’s name OR a full-color, fully edible photo of your dog on them! Treats are offered in heart-healthy Alaskan Salmon or low-fat Roast Beef & Potato and are only $3.50 each.

2. Coffee

Does your dog go crazy whenever he walks by Starbucks? Does the smell of fresh roasted coffee cause her to jump with excitement? Well, now there's Doggy Java!

This beef-flavored vitamin drink comes in a coffee bag and looks like coffee when mixed with water. Served in a canine cappuccino cup, Doggy Java is only $24.95 — and it comes with a Bonescotti biscuit!

3. Furs

East Side Collection Luxurious Faux Mink Coat

For under $20, East Side Collection faux mink coats pamper pets with luxurious style!

Sumptuously soft and exquisitely detailed, this faux black mink coat gives uptown dogs a luxurious way to keep warm. The shawl collar adds style and warmth, while the satiny lining provides a deluxe look and feel.

4. Fragrances

Spritz your pooch with puppy perfume!

Petite Amande from Mungo & Maude contains delicate notes of French blackcurrant, Tunisian neroli, mimosa and violet leaf with a base of sweet vanilla bourbon with a little almond. It sells for a mere £40.00 ($66) per bottle.

Sexy Beast is a unisex blend of bergamot and vanilla-infused musk combined with natural patchouli, mandarin and nutmeg oils. A 3.4 oz bottle is only $65. And it can be custom engraved!

5. Family trees

Get a customized, full color artistic Pedigree Tree print dedicated to your dog's unique ancestry — purebred or mixed. For $99.50 you can get a family portrait for your canine pal, highlighting family history, accomplishments and characteristics.

6. Airlines

Pet Airways

With fares as low as $150, there's no reason your pooch shouldn't fly first class. Pet Airways makes sure your pet will be safe and comfortable flying in the main cabin — not in cargo!

Too bad this woman didn't know about Pet Airways when she paid $32,000 for her dog to fly first class from Paris to Tel Aviv!

7. Speech synthesizers

Bowlingual Voice

You'll never have to wonder what your dog is trying to tell you again! A Japanese toy company has invented a device it claims will be able to detect your pooch's emotion from its bark and then translate this into human words.

Called Bowlingual Voice, the £129 ($211) talking gadget can detect six senses: sadness, joy, alertness to danger, neediness, happiness and frustration. It also has a recorded repertoire of spoken phrases such as 'play with me', 'leave me alone,' and 'I feel sad'.

8. Country clubs

Paradise Ranch

At only $300 for a one-year membership, this country club is a steal. A resort so exclusive it doesn’t accept people, Paradise Ranch has the largest staff to dog ratio on the West Coast. For $20 extra per night, employees will actually cuddle up and snooze the night away right next to your dog in order to make him feel at home.

13. Houses

world's most expensive doghouse

Touted as the most expensive doghouse in the world, this £250,000 ($409,975) kennel belonging to two Great Danes was built on an exclusive estate near Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

Inside, the dogs sleep on sheepskin-lined, temperature-controlled beds, soothe their aches in an 18in-deep spa, howl along to a £150,000 sound system and watch dog-friendly programs on a 52-inch plasma TV. Automatic dispensers ensure that chilled, filtered water and deluxe dry food are always available.

The two dogs each have a bedroom with large windows which overlook their own private playground. 'Dog-vision' webcams allow their owner to monitor their activity 24 hours a day, while climate control ensures they are kept warm.

Wow - very funny dogs! We don't have many things like this with our dogs - our dogs are just to hang around the house when we want. My aunt has 8 dogs!

I am a practicer of Buddhist - my name is Joy. I live in the south of Thailand but I was born in Sisaket int the northeast. Do you know this place?

If you come to Thailand someday you can visit us in southern Thailand - we have a small Thai Buddhist jewelry shop where we sell Buddha and other Buddhist pendants, bracelets, sacred yant cloths, stickers, and things that Buddhists like. Maybe you can come to visit us here in Thailand someday? :) Joy
